Català: El Monument elevat per decret de Franco del 6 d’avril de 1940 a la glòria dels vencedors de la guerra civil fou contruit entre 1940 i 1950 pels presoners públicans. És el més gran cementiri del món on foren enterrades 33.872 víctimes de la guerra civil sense haver-ne informat prèviament les famílies (cincentes sense el seu consentiment). El monument fou inaugurat el 1959.
.El 6 d’avril del 206 l’ informe Bricant aprovat per l’Assemblea delConsell d’Europa i rebutjat pels partits de dreta i l’Església catòlica espanyola, proposava montar en la basílica una exposició educativa permanent explicant la veritat sobre aquella guerra fratricida.
La llei de la Memòria Històrica del16/8/2007 despolititzà la basílica i la declarà lloc de culte on no es podien celebrar actes partidistes -fins aleshores exclusivament fascistes- amparats per la creu, una creu de 182 m, la més alta del món!
Al dia d’avui, les víctimes repúblicanes continuen enterrades junt a les tombes de Franco i José Antonio, els seus botxins i sota l’escut dels vencedors!
Un poble que accepta la situació actual del Valle de Los Caídos és un poble traumatitzat que
encara no ha superat el del tot el seu passat recent.
Malgrat la dificultat de la recuperació i identificació dels cossos degut al seu gran nombre, els sota-signants,
DEMANEM :
1- Que les famílies que ho sol·licitin puguin recuperar les restes dels seus
2- Que es retirin del Valle de Los Caídos les tombes de Franco i de José-Antonio
3- Que es tregui l’escut franquista
4- Que s’accepti la proposta del Consell d’Europa de crear una exposició educativa permanent sobre la veritat de la guerra civil
5- Que s’hi elevi un mur de granit com en el Viet Nam, on es gravin els noms de les de totes les víctimes de la guerra civil espanyola allí enterrades.

The monument was erected between 1940 and 1950 by Franco’s decree of April 6th, 1940. Built by Republican prisoners, it is dedicated to the glory of the victors of the Spanish civil war.
It is the largest cemetery in the world in which 33,872 victims of the conflict were buried without having previously informed their families (five hundred buried without the consent of relatives).
The monument was opened in 1959.
The 6th of April of 2006 the Report Bricant approved by the Assembly of the Council of Europe and rejected by European right-wing parties and the Catholic Church in Spain, proposed to assemble in the Basilica a permanent educational exhibition explaining the truth about this fratricidal war.
The Law of Historical Memory of 16/8/2007 depoliticized the Basilica and declared it a place of worship in which events of a partisan nature could not be celebrated. Until then, used by fascist groups protected by the cross – a cross 182 metres high, the highest in the world!
As of today, the Republican victims are still buried next to the graves of Franco and Jose Antonio their executioners and under the shield of the winners!
A nation that accepts the current situation of the Valley of the Fallen is a nation traumatized that has not yet assimilated all of its recent past.
Despite the difficulty of recovering and identify all the bodies due to their large number, the under-signed,
DEMAND:
1 – To recover the remains of the victims at their family’s request
2 – To remove from the Valley of the Fallen the tombs of Franco and Jose-Antonio
3 – To remove Franco’s shield
4 – To accept the proposal of the Council of Europe to create an education exhibit explaining the truth about the Spanish Civil War
6 – To raise a wall of granite, as with the Viet Nam war, in which to engrave the names of all the victims of the Spanish civil war buried there.
